How old do I have to be to get a tattoo ?
You must be 18 years or older.
It is against the law in Queensland to tattoo any person under the age of 18, even with parental permission. No excuses!
Please don’t ask, you’re best to gather ideas and when you turn 18 you can get your first tattoo.
We check photo ID at your appointment and you will lose your deposit if you are underage and will not be tattooed.
Does it hurt ?
That would depend on the person, for some people it may hurt more than others. Tattooing is a personal experience and you are best to be prepared for it mentally. Our artists will ensure you are as comfortable as possible. If you wish to use numbing cream please let your artist know before hand as different brands can affect the outcome of the tattoo.
What happens at my appointment ?
You must ensure you have had food before your appointment and are well rested and have not consumed alcohol or drugs the night before.
You will receive in depth booking information that you must agree to when you pay a deposit for your booking.
Once you arrive at Fox & Moon you will need to read and sign our consent form and provide photographic ID.
After this your artist will talk you through your design and will apply a stencil of the tattoo on your skin to ensure the correct placement.
Once you are happy the tattoo will be applied, the time this takes varies greatly between each artist and each design but we do our best to estimate.
Once your tattoo is finished your artist will apply a film onto your fresh tattoo and you will then pay for your tattoo and any aftercare or merchandise you may wish to purchase.
You will be given clear aftercare instructions and will be emailed a link to the instructions to refer to.
We have a selection of organic, vegan aftercare available to purchase, including tattoo sunscreens and moisturisers also.
We will soon be stocking the Solaris Tattoo Care range.
Do you do cover ups of old tattoos ?
Yes, it depends on which artist and what you want to cover your old tattoo up with.
Not all cover ups will work so you will need to have a free consultation with your preferred artist to discuss the idea.
Sometimes your artist will recommend laser removal before hand which is always in your best interest and for the final outcome of the tattoo.
We have partnered with Luna Laser who provides excellent cost effective services.
Your artist knows best!
Are touch ups free ?
Yes, we offer free touch ups on all tattoos made at Fox & Moon as long as your touch up booking is made before 3 months from your original booking.
After this 3 months you will have to pay for any touch ups needed.
If you haven’t followed our aftercare instructions and your tattoo has become infected or is not healing correctly we will not offer free touch ups, you will have to pay.
We do not offer free touch ups for any knuckle, finger, palm tattoos or any other tattoos on an area that is prone to drop out.
Your artist will inform you if this is the case.
Please follow aftercare instructions, you want your new tattoo to last a lifetime!
How do I care for my new tattoo ?
Your artist will tell you how to look after your new tattoo and you will be given clear aftercare instructions and emailed a link to instructions on our website for reference.
You can view instructions here,
Please follow our instructions so your tattoo heals correctly and lasts a lifetime.
If you don’t follow our instructions we will not honour free touch ups.
How much will a tattoo cost in your studio ?
It depends on your artist and the design.
Every artist is different, your artist will give you an approximate time period for the tattoo and price will reflect that.
Tattoos that take longer than 4 hours are priced between $180 an hour to $200 an hour depending on the artist. We quote according to the premium service that we provide.
Smaller tattoos will be quoted per piece if they are above the shop minimum.
We have a minimum cost of $110.
Do you tattoo fingers and palms ?
Yes, although it is up to the artist if they want to tattoo these areas as they are prone to the ink dropping out.
We offer no free touch ups for these areas.
Will you tattoo my face ?
This is also at each artists discretion but generally we will only tattoo your face if you are heavily tattooed.
Face tattoos can affect your ability for employment and we will not be held responsible for that.
Is your studio licensed ?
Yes we are fully licensed, council approved, insured and adhere to strict Queensland Government Health regulations.
We care about the safety and care of our artists, staff and clients very seriously.
All artists are professional, qualified tattoo artists who maintain Infection Control certificates and hold QLD Tattoo Artist licenses or QLD Cosmetic Tattoo Artist licenses.
Artists use disposable needles, ink caps, covers, gloves, paper towels and anything else that is used during the tattoo.
Anything that requires sterilisation is placed inside a hospital grade Autoclave machine.
Will you design a tattoo for me ?
Yes, we are a custom studio so we will never copy any other artists work and our artists take pride in custom designing tattoos.
Gather up some reference photos of something similar and come see us or book in a free consultation with your preferred artist to discuss your idea.
Your artist will then draw up your tattoo if you have booked your appointment.
If you wish to see the drawing without booking your tattoo we require a drawing fee.
Can I bring a friend with me ?
Yes you can bring one friend with you only and they are welcome to sit with you during your tattoo. Any more than one person can be distracting for the artists and staff.
No one under the age of 18 is allowed in the tattoo area.
Please don’t bring young children with you to your booking, your booking will be rescheduled and you will forfeit your deposit.
Do you sell tattoo aftercare ?
Yes we sell a range of vegan, organic tattoo aftercare that we use ourselves and we know it works.
We currently have soaps and creams although we will be stocking Solaris Tattoo Care very soon which has a range of organic, vegan liquid tattoo soaps, healing tattoo butter and tattoo pigment oil, all packaged in glass. We are doing our best to lower our environmental impact.
You will be offered aftercare at payment for your tattoo.
Do you use vegan tattoo ink ?
Yes, in-fact everything we use is 100% vegan. It’s sometimes hard to believe that everything from stencil paper, razors, pens, inks and more usually have animal ingredients in them or are tested on animals.
With this is mind we dedicated the studio a vegan and cruelty free zone and are careful where we source our supplies and products to reduce our global impact.
All owners and most of our artists are also vegan so we are not just cashing in on a growing trend, this is something that is important to us.
